Hiding in a dark room waiting for the guest of honour to arrive is how I started my Saturday night. Sounds a little weird, but it was all for one of my best friends' 21st birthday party - which he had no idea about.
That face on the right there is the "what is happening, why are you here, I thought we were just dropping in some forms" face. It lasted for a good hour or so before it all sunk in.
It was a beautiful night with lovely people celebrating a wonderful human.

As an added surprise, his family and some friends had put together which showcased a great variety of embarrassing photos. It's not a 21st without them!
It did get me thinking though, I am way too much of a control freak to deal well with a surprise party! I mean, I'd love the surprise and effort that people have to go to to pull something like this off, but I guarantee I would have already planned out my night and wouldn't necessarily have the ability to switch to party mode instantaneously. Luckily, my friend is not me and, while socially awkward, he is a pro at partying ;).
So Happy Birthday Ben, can't wait to do it all again in a month for your real birthday day <3
